ABN Amro, the Netherlands financial services group, has signed a €1.5bn ($1.9bn) outsourcing deal with technology giant IBM as it looks to slash costs and reduce information technology staff.

The five-year deal will see IBM support ABN's operations worldwide and comes amid a cost-cutting drive announced last year.
