Active managers hit their limits

Aberdeen Asset Management becomes the latest to consider turning money away

Investors returning to the equity and bond markets they abandoned during the financial crisis have run into a new problem: asset managers turning away prospective clients because their funds are already full to the brim.

Martin Gilbert, the chief executive of Aberdeen Asset Management, has said he expects to have to restrict new investment in his firm's global equity strategy by the end of this year.
