Active managers to win Calpers' millions

Californian scheme to put an extra $1.7bn behind its active corporate governance strategy

Active Value Advisors and Hermes are fighting for a substantial chunk of the $350m (&euro399m) that Calpers will allocate to continental European active corporate governance next year.

The Californian scheme has already put $1.3bn behind its active corporate governance strategy in the US and UK. An example of this strategy at work is ICN Pharmaceuticals, whose chairman and chief executive was Milan Panic.
