AIM, Neuer Markt enjoy growth in 2000

London Stock Exchange's AIM market has seen the number of companies listing almost double on last year, while Neuer Markt, Deutsche Börse's segment for growth companies, has reported a marked increase in the size of new companies listing in 2000.

AIM saw 347 companies listed in 2000, an increase of almost 100% on last year's total of 173. There are now 520 companies listed on AIM. LSE saw a total of 270 IPOs in 2000 - 160 on AIM and the remaining 110 companies listing on the main market, raising a total of €17bn ($16bn). The value of trading on AIM grew 150% on 1999 to €22bn ($20bn). The number of shares traded rose to two million, up 140% on 1999.
