Alcoa prepared for rejection of $520m Norwegian bid

Alcoa's $520m (€582m) takeover offer for Elkem, the Norwegian industrial company, is likely to be rejected, but the US aluminium company remains confident of achieving its long-term objectives.

Norwegian securities law obliged Alcoa to make a bid for the 60% of Elkem it does not already own, after its stake surpassed 40%.
