More than two in five of the companies put under pressure by shareholders on pay and other controversial topics this year were “repeat offenders” from 2017, according to Financial News research.

Since last year, the Investment Association, the UK’s trade body for fund managers, has tracked all company general meetings where more than 20% of shareholders vote ‘no’ on any one resolution. This level is traditionally considered a warning signal.
