Amex, the US stock market, has appointed 14 governors to its board after the National Association of Securities Dealers, the US trade body, sold control of the exchange to its members.

The line up includes Thomas Sheridan, managing director of global prime brokerage at Citigroup Capital Markets and James Hyde, senior managing director at Kellogg Capital Group, the largest, privately held specialist firm on Wall Street.
