Amundi, Europe’s largest asset manager, has promoted an executive who came on board in its 2016 acquisition of Pioneer Investments to lead its research operations, as the division’s head steps up to a senior advisory role.

The French group, which manages €1.49tn, announced the appointment of Monica Defend, who was head of asset allocation research at Pioneer and took an equivalent role at Amundi after the acquisition, on October 9.
