Amvescap set to agree mutual fund penalty 'within weeks'

Amvescap, the Anglo-US fund manager, is set to settle its role in the mutual fund market-timing scandal in less than three weeks.

The London-listed manager is hopeful of reaching a settlement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission following the Labor Day holiday in the US on September 6, according to people familiar with the situation.
