Amy Lamé was appointed the UK capital’s first ever “night czar” by London mayor Sadiq Khan in 2016.

Best known as a comedian, with one-woman shows including Gay Man Trapped in a Lesbian’s Body, the 48-year-old is surprisingly serious when we meet at her offices in City Hall. She has time for one or two jokes, however. “I love being night czar,” she says. “But I can also be a night mayor.”
