Citigroup has paid its junior investment bankers two performance-related bonuses in one year — in the latest signal that large investment banks are working harder to retain their young talent.

The US investment bank paid its second and third-year analysts a bonus in August, having already awarded its annual variable payout for 2017 in January, according to a forthcoming report from recruiters Dartmouth Partners, which was corroborated by banking sources.
