
The most senior City bankers working for European companies earn nearly 9% less than those at their Wall Street rivals, according to new figures that underscore the growing dominance of US institutions in Europe.
According to a survey of 683 front-office bankers working in London by Emolument, the pay-benchmarking website, managing directors at US banks earn £590,000 a year on average in salary and bonuses, compared with £543,000 for those at European banks (see chart 1).
