The newly named chief executive of Australia & New Zealand Banking Group says he will maintain departing head Mike Smith’s aggressive Asia strategy.

Shayne Elliott, currently ANZ's chief finance officer, will take over in January from Smith, who joined the bank as CEO in 2007 after almost three decades at HSBC.
