Some of Asia’s most high-profile dealmakers have spoken out against the region’s increasingly frothy private equity market, warning of a disconnect between the high prices paid for businesses and the macroeconomic headwinds in the region.

Speaking at the Asia Venture Capital Journal Private Equity and Venture Forum in Hong Kong on November 4, Roy Kuan, managing partner for Asia at CVC Capital Partners, said: "We find the valuations not only extremely high, but conversely current trading is very weak."
