Concerns over the weak performance of the Chinese economy and a delayed decision on raising interest rates in the US have prompted uncertainty in global markets over the past fortnight, with the most pronounced drops seen on August 24, when the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by more than 1,000 points on market open.
