Azimut develops alternatives business

Azimut, the Italian asset management company which floated on the Milan stock exchange last year, has moved into hedge funds.

The company, backed by Apax, the buy-out firm, said it is in the process of obtaining authorisation from the Bank of Italy to operate its new subsidiary, Azimut Capital Management. It expects to gain approval in the first half of this year.
