Baillie Gifford hires for Japanese equities

Edinburgh-based funds house Baillie Gifford has hired a former Japan equities manager from Schroders, amid a turbulent time for the asset class that has led to several asset managers making changes to how they manage Japanese equities.

Donald Farquharson left Schroders, where he was on the Japan team for 17 years, last November. Before he left he was in charge of the listed £110m (€138m) Japan Growth Fund as well as institutional assets. Schroders was unable to confirm how many institutional assets he managed in time for publication
