Bain Capital, the private equity firm, has bought Burlington Coat Factory Warehouse, the US clothing retailer, for $2.1bn (€1.7bn) in its second US acquisition this month.

On January 9 Bain spent $3bn on the sensors and controls unit of Texas Instruments, the US technology company.
