Baring Asset Management, the fund manager owned by Dutch group ING with £19bn (€27.1bn) in assets, has appointed Andrew Edgington to the new role of head of product development. He joins from Northern Trust Global Investments

Edgington will be responsible for BAM's institutional and retail products and will focus on building products to take advantage of new European regulation concerning retail funds. He also plans to broaden the firm's range of alternative investments. BAM launched its Asia Hedge Select fund this year.
