Banham backs good governance practice

Sir John Banham, chairman of Whitbread, the UK-listed leisure group, believes pension funds should actively encourage their investment managers to enforce good corporate governance practices.

He intends to start the ball rolling at Whitbread's next board strategy conference, which will address ways in which its pension fund can secure stronger performance from its managers. "I believe this is the first time a company has come up with this kind of initiative," he said.
