The Bank of England and a host of financial institutions in the City of London have stepped up efforts to eliminate the use of plastics among their employees, as large organisations try to reduce the amount of waste they produce.

The UK’s central bank has cut the use of over 600,000 disposable cups a year, according to people with knowledge of its plans, and has reduced the number of disposable food boxes.
