Bank stocks to benefit from Conservative victory

The UK bank and retail sectors are set to benefit most from a Conservative majority in the May 6 General Election, according to analysts at Deutsche Bank, despite the opposition party's promise to introduce a bank tax regardless of whether there is international consensus.

In a research note published today by Deutsche Bank, titled What If?, analysts led by strategist Gareth Evans, economist George Buckley and strategist Jim Reid, studied the likely impact of various political results on the equity markets.
