'Banks hired' for Philadelphia float

The Philadelphia Stock Exchange, the oldest exchange in the US, has hired banks to prepare a plan for it to list around the end of this year.

A source close to the situation told Financial News: "The Philly [Exchange] is working toward an initial public offering at the end of 2006 or at the beginning of 2007 and has hired advisers to help out with the process."
