Barclays Capital, the investment banking arm, has named a specialist in middle-market M&A to its leveraged finance team, with banks breaking into the sector as credit tightens.

Jeff Porphy was hired as managing director for US leveraged finance, a new position to head the idea generation and transaction development team. Porphy comes to BarCap from Credit Suisse where he most recently co-headed middle market M&A.
