Barclays Capital, the investment banking division of the UK financial services group, has hired Philip Freeborn from UBS as a managing director and chief information officer.

Freeborn replaces Kevin O'Reilly, BarCap's former head of information technology strategy who departed this summer and joined the strategy practice of consultants Deloitte & Touche this week .
