Barclays Capital has hired a head of equity research who will be driving the bank's launch into Latin America from Brazil as the bank also prepares to start its research on hundreds of European companies over the coming months.

The bank said in a statement it has appointed Roberto Attuch as head of equity research for Latin America, based in São Paulo. He was previously co-head of Latin America equity research at Credit Suisse.
