Shadow of past mistakes lingers at Barclays AGM

New CEO and chairman attempt to focus on plans to reform the bank in future years but find shareholders in no mood to forget past transgressions

Barclays' chairman Sir David Walker and chief executive Antony Jenkins endured a difficult time at their first annual general meeting today, as they attempted to focus on plans to reform the bank in future years but found investors in no mood to forget past mistakes.

Jenkins, dressed in a dark suit and a Barclays-blue tie, received wide applause as he stood up to address shareholders, saying "Our goal is simple. To make Barclays the go-to bank for all of our stakeholders."
