Barclays bosses confirm thousands of job cuts

Barclays bosses confirmed a large number of lay-offs took place across the bank in the second quarter of this year, illustrating the UK lender has not been immune to the wave of cost-cutting across the industry.

More than 3,000 Barclays employees were made redundant, chief executive Jes Staley and chief financial officer Tushar Morzaria confirmed on an earnings call on August 1.
