The chairman of Barclays has called on City firms and their executives to "draw maximum attention" to the need for a transitional arrangement into Brexit.

John McFarlane, who also chairs TheCityUK, told those at the industry group's annual conference in London today that it was "essential" to secure a Brexit that caused the least damage to the EU and UK.
