Thousands of jobs are on the line at Barclays as part of the UK lender's plan to cut as much as $1.25bn in costs, according to reports.

Initial plans being reviewed by managers could see between 1,500 and 2,000 roles go, Reuters reported. These will chiefly be at Barclays Execution Services, the six-year old business that brought support functions together into one unit.
