UK investment bank Barclays has kicked off what is expected to be a busy week for promotions in the City by naming 84 people to managing director — a significant uptick on last year.

Barclays has promoted 84 people within its corporate and investment bank to the coveted role of managing director, it said in a statement. Of the 2020 class, 27% are women — reflecting a push in the sector to promote more women into senior roles.
