Barclays pays female employees within the division that houses its investment bank nearly 45% less than their male counterparts, with the UK group struggling to promote women to senior positions.

The bank revealed in its 2017 annual report today that the median average salary gap between male and female employees at its international division — which includes its investment bank — was 43.5%. For bonuses, the gap widened to more than 73%.
