Long-standing Barclays shareholder Richard Buxton has called on chief executive Jes Staley to overhaul the bank’s culture following last year’s whistleblowing fines.
The star fund manager said the culture at Britain’s second-largest bank has resulted in staff believing they have a “different rule” for them compared with employees at other banks. He said Staley should “execute and deliver” a recruitment strategy to ensure staff acted “with integrity”.
