Belgian financier backs Suez bid for Electrabel

Knight Vinke drops court action

Albert Frère, the Belgian financier, has come out in support of the €11.4bn ($14.1bn) cash-and-shares bid from Suez, the French water and energy group, for Electrabel, Belgium's largest electricity generator.

Frère is one of Suez's largest shareholders through his interest in Groupe Bruxelles Lambert, the Belgian holding company which holds 8% of Suez.
