BerchWood Partners, a US-based placement agent, has hired a fifth partner, George Gaines from Citigroup, and is looking for a sixth in London.

BerchWood is currently helping to raise two European private equity funds and two US funds. Its European clients include Close Brothers Private Equity and CWC Capital Management, a central European fund set up by Dave Williams, the former head of Alliance Capital, the fund manager.
