The Laborers' Local 265 Pension Fund and the Plumbers and Piperfitters Local No 572 Pension Fund have filed a lawsuit in Tennessee against BlackRock relating to securities lending and its iShares exchange-traded funds products in the US.

In publicly available court documents, the pension funds allege that BlackRock "systematically violated their fiduciary duties, setting up an excessive fee structure designed to loot securities lending returns properly due to iShares investors".
