BlackRock's net profit up 7.9% on higher assets

The fund manager's ETF unit posted its highest net new business production since its acquisition in 2009

BlackRock's third quarter profit climbed 7.9% as the world's largest money manager saw its assets under management increase, while revenue climbed.

In the third quarter, BlackRock reported a profit of $642m, or $3.65 a share, compared with a year earlier profit of $595m, or $3.23 a share.
