BlackRock scores strongest ever annual net inflows

Firm's chairman and chief executive Laurence Fink says more clients are using both active and passive strategies

Net inflows at BlackRock jumped by a third to hit a new record in 2016, with almost half of the $202.2 billion total arriving in the fourth quarter.

The net inflows compare with $149.9 billion in 2015 and helped to boost assets under management by 11% to $5.1 trillion over the course of the year, according to the fund manager's full-year results, published on January 13.
