BlackRock has a message for the world's business leaders: talk to us before you agree anything with an activist hedge fund.

The world's biggest fund manager owns a share in thousands of companies across the globe and, according to its corporate governance chiefs, is worried about "standard negotiated settlements" where these companies agree to activists' demands without talking to other shareholders.
