BNP Paribas is looking to expand its equities business in Asia through the acquisition of the Japan-based execution unit of Calyon, the investment banking arm of Crédit Agricole.

A spokeswoman from BNP Paribas said the bank hoped to agree terms by the end of the week and complete by June. She declined to comment on the expected price.
