BNP Paribas Asset Management, the French fund manager and one of two potential bidders for the UK arm of Deutsche Asset Management, is buying FundQuest, a Boston-based wealth manager.

Last week Aberdeen Asset Management moved into pole position to take over the troubled UK arm of DeAM, according to investment bankers. They said only a last-minute hike in price could tip the deal in BNP Paribas' favour.
