The pay of BNP Paribas' chief executive jumped by more than a quarter last year after a record 12 months for the French bank.

Baudouin Prot earned €2.29m ($2.8m) in 2005, a 28.9% increase on the previous year. He was awarded an 46% rise in his discretionary bonus to €1.17m and received 150,000 options at an exercise price of €55.10.
