BNP Paribas profits rise on stake sale and lower taxes

French bank helped by gain on stake in Indian joint venture SBI Life Insurance

BNP Paribas's second-quarter net profit rose, helped by slightly growing revenue, gains on a stake sale and lower income tax.

France’s largest listed bank by assets had a net profit of €2.47bn for the quarter compared with €2.39bn a year earlier, it said on Wednesday. Revenues edged up to €11.22bn from €11.21bn.
