Bob Diamond’s Africa-focused Atlas Merchant Capital has hired David Schamis — formerly a managing director at JC Flowers and a board member at MF Global at the time of its collapse — as a founding partner. Schamis will oversee the firm’s private equity investing.

Diamond, formerly chief executive of Barclays, founded Atlas Merchant Capital to invest across the financial services industry, with a particular focus on Africa.
