Bond defaults race to all-time high

Corporates have defaulted on more bonds this year than ever before, according to Moody's, the debt rating agency.

Failure by Marconi, the UK telecoms group and Conseco, the US insurer, to meet bond payments in August helped take the total value of bonds on which companies have defaulted to $140bn.
