Boris Johnson: Coronavirus crisis can be a trigger for Britain to ‘build back greener’

PM expected to outline to the Conservative Party conference his new target for renewable energy

The Covid-19 crisis can trigger the UK to “build back greener”, the UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to say during a speech at the annual Conservative Party conference on 6 October.

The Prime Minister’s comments, to be delivered virtually, come as the government faces heightened scrutiny over its coronavirus Test and Trace programme. On 4 October, Public Health England said almost 16,000 cases had not been calculated in UK daily Covid-19 figures between 25 September and 2 October because of a “technical” issue.
