Boris Johnson to hold talks with European Commission chief to unlock Brexit talks

Prime Minister Boris Johnson is set to speak with the president of the European Union's executive body, on 3 October, in a sign that the two sides could be close to breaking the Brexit stalemate.

A spokesperson for the prime minister said: “The PM will be speaking to [European Commission] President [Ursula] von der Leyen tomorrow afternoon to take stock of negotiations and discuss next steps.”
