Whatever the outcome of a UK referendum on EU membership, we should be looking beyond Europe for opportunities

It won’t be uppermost on their minds but when British voters are asked to ‘leave’ or ‘stay’ in the referendum on European Union membership, they will also be defining the future of London’s finance sector for decades.

As this FN special report shows, a vote to leave opens up the real possibility of losing easy access to European markets. But by shrugging off certain EU rules the UK might give London a competitive edge in offering services to the US, Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
