Brexit whacks UK property market as China rises

Concerns that the UK’s departure from the EU may prove chaotic and economically disruptive have kept property investors on the sidelines this year

The UK’s property investment market was one of the few in the world to contract during 2018, as a tumbling currency and Brexit gloom took their toll.

According to MSCI, whose analysis tracks the value of real estate held for investment purposes, as opposed to the broader property market, the dollar value of the UK’s market shrank from $720bn to $714bn during the course of the year.
