Bridgewell, the corporate finance house, is moving into corporate broking with the acquisition of Gilbert Eliot & Co, one of the UK's last independent agency brokers.

Ian Dighé, Bridgewell's joint managing director, said the firm was buying Gilbert Eliot to establish a corporate broking service aimed specifically at mid-cap UK and European listed companies and to build on its existing institutional sales and research activities.
